Monday 12/12

I love sleeping with a healthy nose! It went so well! To our surprise the snowfall from last night stayed on the ground! So as soon as we were ready we headed out the door. James loved dancing in the snow so much he walked all the way to the train station crunching all the snow in his path. He kept saying how much he loves snow. George also got to touch it too! He loved it.

In a very short journey we made it to my friend Nina's house. It was so warm and cosy inside. James had so much fun getting into the toys. Lily was the sweetest too.

My friend Skye came around for a little bit too and it was so good to talk to her. She is such an amazing mum. Once she left Nina and I chatted for ages. We just didn't want to leave haha! She is so fun and beautiful. I learned so much from her that morning.

At around 2pm we walked to Ealing Broadway to get some Greggs. Then it was into H&M to look for a snow suit for George. James really wanted to get a bag but I told him we didn't come for a bag. As I tried the snowsuit on for George and turned around to see James he was gone. I ran through the store calling his name. No response. After about 5 minutes of agony I found him hiding under a rack. He was sad that he couldn't have the bag. We talked about how it's not okay to leave me but it's okay to feel sad and upset. He came out of his hiding spot after 15 minutes. I was so drained. Once we were out of there George had a poo…

So we went to the library to find the toilets. We then stayed there and read books to heal any emotional wounds from earlier. It was really nice. George smiled so much I thought his face was going to burst haha!

We headed home as George napped. When we got home he stayed asleep in the carrier until Matt clocked out. We then had dinner and played for a bit until bedtime. Both boys were asleep by 9pm.

Tuesday 13/12

George had a bad night and didn't seem 100%. So I didn't want to risk it and we stayed home. George napped so much that morning. We made it to lunch and George was still napping on me. By 1pm he woke up and we had some food and changed nappies and then he was back asleep. His body was so exhausted with whatever was going on (growth spurt, developmental leap, teething, or another bug he's picked up).

He woke up around 4pm and smiled a bit and then went back down for a nap until Matt got home. James had been patient all day playing on his own and passing the time. It was nice to read with him for ages too.

We had dinner when Matt got home and then just played a bit before heading off to bed. James didn't take a nap so we didn't want to miss the chance to get him down early. They were both asleep by 8:30pm. Also, George is 9 months old today!

Wednesday 14/12

James woke up before midnight coughing and being sick. So when we woke up in the morning I canceled our plans. Both boys were low energy so took the morning slow in bed. Well, 20 minutes after the boys were awake they were happy and strong. So we could've gone out but that's okay. I love our home days.

We read so many books and played around on the bed. George loved kissing himself in the mirror. James got busy doing his puzzles on his new puzzle table. And I cleaned where I could since George was more adventurous that morning.

We then headed downstairs and George took a long nap while James and I watched a film. When George woke up he just cried for ages. I was so drained. James wanted to cuddle too so we all cuddled until Matt got home. I was so exhausted. I feel like I'm dragging my feet to get to the end of the day. I wish I had more energy. We finished off the night reading lots of books and then snuggled into bed.

Thursday 15/12

The night was so rough. I can't even remember what good sleep feels like. I kinda dread going to sleep these days. James woke up feeling terrible and had no energy. We laid in bed for ages after the boys woke up. Once everyone had medicine they seemed to be much better. George was energetic as ever. He loves playing with bags that he can toss up in the air. There is so much joy in his face when he does it.

The rest of the day was tougher than the night. George didn't want to be put down at all so I tried to do everything while holding him. James was in and out of napping. In between naps I would feed the boys and then they were back asleep. I barely had time to eat or go to the toilet. George cried a lot too. I don't know if it's teething or a leap but it was exhausting.

When Matt got home we had dinner and then they boys played together as I breathed for a bit. James is so into wrestling these days and George isn't afraid to get in the middle of it! Then we got ready for bed. I hate this winter period. Why can't we have a break from colds?

Friday 16/12

Still a bad night but both boys were doing so much better in the morning. They were back to themselves. George is such an explorer and just craves time to do his own thing. Matt worked from home that day which made things so much easier.

We played in the bedroom for ages. I love having a floor bed for this rest. The boys just love getting in and off it and just jumping around. James loves finding new places he could hide in. And he adores making his brother laugh.

James then sat next to his dad to watch a film while I let George nap on me. It was so peaceful. I love his snuggles so much. We had lunch when he woke up and played around the rest of the afternoon.

At around 3pm we set off to my friend Nina's house. It was -1 outside so we wrapped up warm. George was so happy to be out of the house finally. I love the joy on his face.

We arrived a bit early but it gave plenty of time for James to warm up. There were already plenty of kids to go and play with. He also helped cut out the sugar cookies.

Meanwhile, George was busy with his girl Lily. She was the cutest with him. I loved seeing them play around together.

Soon a lot of my mum friends started to arrive with all their kids. It was a very full house. James had so much fun playing with all the kids.

Then it was time to watch The Snowman and decorate sugar cookies. James had so much fun decorating his snowman. And I loved eating them haha!

After a bit more play it was time to go. James had the best time with his little friends. And I had an amazing time with mine. I love them so much.

Back at home we settled into more quiet play. James worked on his puzzles in his tent. Everytime I'd open the tent to see him he'd tell me he was working and to close the door. At bedtime George and I snuggled up in bed. Our friends Paul and Hanna arrived to stay for the weekend and James and Matt stayed up with them for a bit.

Saturday 17/12

Even though George had recovered fully from his last cold he was once again poorly. I guess he caught something at the party yesterday. This is a never ending cycle. So we decided to just take the day slowly. James was off with Matt and Paul downstairs while George and I hung out with Hanna upstairs. He was such a happy boy.

Paul and Hanna are family. When James can't find them he says "Where is our family?" It melts my heart. We don't have much family around that come to see us so having them drive 2 hours to come be with us definitely makes us feel loved. James and George are in love with Paul and Hanna.

What makes them the favourites is they will play any game with James. And the choice of play today was wrestling. Both James and George would get in there.

Paul and Matt went on a walk after lunch to get some cinnamon buns for us. While they were gone Hanna and I played with the boys. It's always amazing hanging out with Hanna.

After everyone was back it was wrestling time again. We took a break for some Burger King and then back to wrestling. It was such a beautiful day that was filled with so much laughter.

Sunday 18/12

The sunrise was beautiful that morning. The winter sky is my favourite. It was so chilly that morning but we made it to church just a bit past 9am.

It's the best having extra hands to help out at church. Paul and Hanna were the biggest help in nursery since some visitors brought 4 additional children. Once church was over we hopped on the tube to get home. George was so comfy in his snowsuit that he drifted off to sleep.

At home we had lunch together and played a while longer. Of course there was a lot of wrestling haha! We didn't want today to end.

It was the best weekend ever to have Paul and Hanna. Hanna is like a sister to me. I love her so much! I miss living close to her and seeing almost everyday like back in Newcastle. But we are so grateful they came to see us.

After they left the boys just played around. There was lots of reading done. It's cute how George imitates his brother so well. Anything James does he tries. And James is so happy to have his little brother as a best friend.

To end the night we had a family film and cuddled up on the sofa. Then it was off to bed. And that ended our week! Fingers crossed that the boys are done being ill haha!
